MODEL CS-71HL HEAVY LOAD INDENTATION TESTER

Description
This CS-71HL Heavy Load indentation machine consists of a smooth base plate for supporting the specimen. The indenting load is transferred from ball-bearing support to the indenting plunger by means of a screw and handwheel. Also attached to the plunger is an adjustable stop that contacts the spindle of a dial micrometer attached to the frame of the machine. The dial micrometer registers any movement of the plunger. The indenting tool consists of a flat-ended cylindrical steel rod, spherical steel ball, or other shapes as desired, is attached to the lower end of the indenting, plunger. The dial micrometer is adjusted to zero with the indenting tool in contact with the base plate so that the dial micrometer registers the thickness of a specimen during the test. To measure the compressed thickness of the sample, the weight rack and handwheel assembly are lowered by means of the handwheel so that it rests upon the spindle without impact. The compressed thickness may be noted on the dial indicator at equilibrium or at a specified time period. In a like manner, the recovered thickness is noted on the dial indicator after the weight rack and handwheel assembly have been raised from contact with the spindle.

Preload weight of 1 pound. Maximum load of 300 pounds

Model CS-14 Test Chimney

Technical References
ASTM D 3014

Description
The Model CS-14 Test Chimney is used as a small-scale laboratory screening test for comparing the relative flammability of rigid cellular plastics. The body of the chimney and the channel, which carries three pins to support the specimen, are made from stainless steel.

The specimen is mounted in the vertical chimney having a heat-resistant glass front panel and ignited with a Bunsen burner for a period of 10 seconds. The height and duration of the flame and the percent weight retained by the specimen are recorded.
