MODEL CS-6 COMPRESSIBILITY TEST FIXTURE
Technical References
ASTM F-36
ASTM F-806
Description
Model CS-6 Compressibility Test Fixture allows the determination of the short-term compressibility and recovery at room temperature of composite gasket materials. The fixture includes the penetrators, as required by either ASTM F-36 or ASTM F-806; precision dial indicator with 1-inch travel graduated in 0.002-inch divisions; and a weight of 4 pounds. A compression tester (UTM) is required to apply the specified load to the upper end of the penetrator.
When fully assembled, the assembly precisely provides a one-pound pre-load. The 4-pound weight is added to the system if a 5-pound pre-load is desired.
MODEL CS-73M MEASURING CELL TEST FIXTURE
Technical References
ASTM D 1531
Description
Model CS-73M Measuring Cell provides a means of testing polyethylene by the liquid displacement method. The cell is a two-terminal, shielded type cell in which specimens are immersed in benzene, silicon oil, or other liquid that is compatible with the specimen.
The capacitance difference is used in conjunction with the appropriate specimen thickness, the plate spacing, and the precisely known permittivity of the test specimens.
The CS-73M has a rectangular center electrode of 0.25-inch thickness and 9.0 square inches in the area supported by 5 insulators and located midway between two outer electrodes which form part of the fluid cavity. The spacing between plates is nominally 60 mils, although center electrodes can be supplied to give a 106 mil spacing. The center electrode slides in a grove and is easily removable for cleaning. The cell is equipped with an overflow pipe to maintain the liquid level and has the provision for a temperature probe or thermometer insertion. The cell is constructed of gold plated brass and has Teflon insulators. Frequency to 1 megacycle.
MODEL CS-84B PEEL TEST FIXTURE
Technical References
ASTM D1781
Description
This apparatus is primarily intended for determining the comparative peel resistance of adhesive bonds between relatively flexible facings and cores of sandwich constructions when tested under specified conditions. With a modified specimen, the apparatus can be used for determining the comparative peel resistance of adhesives in laminated assemblies where at least one adherent is flexible enough to bend smoothly over the surface of the drum.
The Model CS-84B Peel Test Apparatus, also known as a Peel Drum, consists of a flanged drum, flexible loading straps, and suitable clamps for holding the test specimen. The outside radius of the drum is 2.0 +/- 0.005 inches, and the radius of the flange, including one-half the thickness of the loading straps, is 0.500 +/- 0.005 inches larger than the radius of the drum. This 0.500 +/-0.005 inch is the effective torque arm of the apparatus. The top clamp is for use in loading the specimen and the drum clamp is used to initially hold the facing tangent to the face of the drum. The drum is balanced about its axis with a weight placed diametrically opposite the drum clamp to compensate for the weight if the clamp. The apparatus, not including the loading straps, weighs 8 pounds.
MODEL CS-144 Fiber Clamps
Description
These clamps are used when testing single fibers, fine wire, and other delicate filaments. They can be used in ambient and reduced or elevated temperatures.
Features:
Strength at the pivot point
Self-aligning 6.35 mm (0.25 inch) square jaw faces
100 mm long by 50 mm wide
Clamps can be manufactured from aluminum or stainless steel
MODEL CS-240 Roller Drum Peel Test Fixture
Technical References
ASTM D 3167
Description
Model CS-240 is designed for use with any UTM to measure the force needed to peel a flexible material from a solid substrate. The substrate moves across rollers as the material is peeled off. Available in 1 or 3 widths.
MODEL CS-86A COMPRESSION SET APPARATUS – EXTERNAL LOADING
Technical References
ASTM D 395 Method A
Description
The Model CS-86A consists of a loading spring and two parallel compression plates assembled using threaded bolts and a base plate. The unit is portable and self-contained after a load has been applied. The load is applied to the compression plates and spring by external means after the test specimen is mounted in the apparatus. Either a calibrated compression machine or dead weights may be used for load application. The bolts and nuts prevent the specimen and spring from losing their initial deflections when the external load is removed. The compression plates and base are 5.5 x 3.5 x 5/8 inches. The apparatus is 8.5 inches high. The plates and base are manufactured of polished chrome-plated steel.
MODEL CS-86B COMPRESSION SET APPARATUS – CONSTANT DEFLECTION
Technical References
ASTM D 395 Method B
Description
The CS-86B compression set apparatus consists of three flat plates between which the rubber specimens are compressed. Steel spacers for the required percentage of compression are placed on each side of the rubber specimens to control their thickness while compressed. Six bolts pass through the plates. These bolts are tightened so that the plates are drawn together until they come in contact with the spacers. The fixture is manufactured of polished chrome-plated steel. Dimensions: 4 x 7.5 inches.
Spacers are sold separately.
MODEL CS-86A-X COMPRESSION SET APPARATUS – CALIBRATED SPRING FORCE APPLICATION
Technical References
ASTM D 395 Method A
Description
The CS-86A-X features stainless steel construction and a three-post design for even loading. Load is applied via a heavy-duty spring (1/10″ deflection = 40 +/-2 pound load). The dial indicator is removable. The fixture can be placed in an oven.
